Congratulations to Margie Moats, our Project Designer! Her quilt Americana Thread Painting won "Best Sewing Machine Workmanship" in the Wall Quilts categoary at Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza (September 2019).
The description of her quilt reads:
"The RaNae Merrill book Free-Motion Mastery in a Month made me a quilter. I wanted to do more than quilt in the background; soon I was thread-painting whimsical designs. My "Americana Thread Painting" came from applying this newfound free-motion joy to a pattern I created years ago. It is all free-motion applied thread with hand-applied beads. When I sew it gives me peace and joy that I share by teaching."

I have quilted for a long time but was unhappy with my stitch length and also wanted to try something other than stippling. I took classes from RaNae at Vermont Quilt Festival this past June. RaNae was just what I needed. With energy and patience and kindness and fun, she gave us tons of tips and pointers. I have been practicing every day since with her voice in my ears and I am delighted with my progress. Thank you so much! Highly recommend!!
