Sideways Spiral Quilts

What do ropes, DNA, licorice twists and curling ribbon all have in common? They are all spirals -- seen from the side.

Sideways Spiral Quilts shows you how to easily design and sew ropes, ribbons and chains in any size and shape through a series of simple step-by-step instructions. Then, create them in a quilt choosing from a variety of construction techniques that include appliqué, bias tape and piecing. Six simple projects get you started; each can be easily adapted to your own shape and style. Be inspired by dozens of beautiful "sideways spiral" quilts from traditional to modern. Whether you are a beginner or an expert quilter, Sideways Spiral Quilts is sure to inspire and delight!

Note: Chains and ropes are made with fusible applique outlined with bias tape. The book includes 6 different ways to make bias tape - 2 with an iron, 4 at the sewing machine. You'll need bias tape makers in various sizes, and for sewing machine methods you'll want to try water-soluble and fusible threads.
