How does Free-Motion Mastery in a Month work?

The Free-Motion Mastery book and tool kit give you daily lessons that progressively build your FMQ skill. It starts with 6 Basic Shapes, then builds them step-by-step into patterns. FMM30 uses my exclusive "Quilting Yoga," Tracing exercises and Drawing exercises to prepare you to quilt a block a day. Then you join the blocks to make a completed quilt. (You can complete it in a month, but I've structured the class to span two months to make it more relaxed.)

What topics are covered?

Begin by learning how to set up your sewing machine, find your perfect quilting speed and get even, flowing stitches. You'll learn to quilt the 6 Basic Shapes -- Lines, Curves and Circles, Teardrops, S-Curves and Spirals -- then build 30-40 patterns from these shapes, including Feathers! You'll come away not only having gained comfort and confidence with free-motion quilting but having completed your first free-motion quilt!

Do I need the Free-Motion Mastery in a Month book and tool kit for the class?

Yes. If you do not have the book and tool kit, select a registration that includes them. The "DELUXE" options also include the Free-Motion Mastery in a Month stream-on-demand video class. If you already have the book and tool kit, select the Club Only option. Domestic or Longarm machines? What size tool kit should I order?

Free-Motion Mastery in a Month applies to both domestic and longarm machines. The exercises and patterns are the same, the difference is just in which muscles you train. The Trainer Tool in the tool kit comes in a Standard size and a Longarm size. If you are working on a small domestic machine order the Standard size tool kit. If you are working on a stand-up longarm, sit-down longarm or large domestic machine, order the Longarm size tool kit.

For the summer I'm not starting a new series of classes from the beginning, but am still holding an open session each Tuesday night when any club member can join in and ask any question you want for live, one-on-one answers. Recordings of past classes are accessible in the private Facebook group.
