For those of you who may not be familiar with Jewish weddings, a chuppah (pronounced "hoopah") is a canopy that is held over a couple as they are getting married. Often the chuppah is handed down through the family; sometimes the couple have it made into a quilt after the wedding.
This chuppah is made of blue and yellow silk dupioni in a Star of David design. The silk shimmers when light falls across it; the blue is cross-woven with red so subtle highlights of red and purple show up in it as well. It is not quilted, but is backed with a soft blue wool. The edge is a rich blue brocade and the corners have blue ribbons to tie the chuppah to poles.
