Tessellation

Except for the six long triangles in the left and bottom borders, this quilt is made entirely from the same 5" block. When I sent it to Sue for quilting, I told her that the design represents how our lives can be enriched by forming bonds with others, and I gave her free rein to quilt it as she wished. She created cocoons in the large triangles, then individual butterflies perched on leafy branches drying their new wings in the "single" sections. In the "doubles", the butterflies take flight -- each one is unique. When four blocks join together to make a star, fireworks fill in the spaces between. Sue's really took the quilt to another level.
