This quilt was for my nephew Jacob. With a nod to Dr. Seuss, its name comes from the fact that the fishes in the white fabric were red and blue. They were, however, too large to fit an entire fish in each square, so each four-patch block has a head in one square and a tail in the other, and just for fun I mixed up the heads and tails. This was the first quilt I made when I moved to New York, and I photographed it on the fire escape of the photo studio where I was working at the time. The design was inspired by Mary Ellen Hopkins' book "Baker's Dozen Doubled" (ME Publications, 1988).
